Smart clothing is one of the newest developments in the softlines industry, allowing wearers to monitor their physical or fitness condition via network-connectable products. Smart clothing allows the user to send biometric data, such as pulse rate, temperature, heart rhythm and physical movement to a mobile app via Bluetooth technology, making smart clothing a part of the Internet of Things (IoT).

While smart clothing and other IoT products offer users revolutionary functionality, there are also security risks. Many IoT devices are low-hanging fruit for hackers as they have little to no security controls implemented. This poses a risk to consumers as it could lead to sensitive communications being intercepted, data breaches, or ransomware preventing access to the device or data.

During this webinar, UL and AAFA give an overview on smart clothing, discuss the security regulations for IoT devices and how to verify IoT security claims.
