On October 24, 2018, the National Institute of Metrology, Quality and Technology – INMETRO has published Ordinance No. 5032018 to propose specific adjustments and clarifications to the Technical Regulation on Quality and Conformity Assessment Requirements for Toys marketed in Brazil.

The adjustments and clarifications of the proposed ordinance elaborated under Annex I include but are not limited to the marking, packaging and chemical contaminants of toys while the conformity assessment requirements are modified under Annex II which include test methods to be used and certification procedures. Age applicability of certain toys is tabulated in Annex B. While the applicable Conformity Identification Seal models for toys are provided in Annex III.

INMETRO will be accepting public comments until November 24, 2018.
