This proposed new rule would ban the import, use and sale of asbestos and asbestos-containing products under the Canadian Environmental Protection Act (CEPA). This proposal would ban six minerals commonly known by the umbrella term “asbestos”. These are:

  • actinolite
  • amosite
  • anthophyllite
  • chrysotile
  • crocidolite
  • tremolite

The proposal is open for public consultation until March 22, 2018.
