The government of Chile has updated the Health Regulations on July 24, 2018.
The update includes the use of the term gluten-free” and the logo or symbol on food products. Specifically, the update is presented in Article 518.
The term “gluten-free” and the logo or symbol of the crossed-out, may only be used where the result of the laboratory analysis of the foodstuff does not exceed 5 milligrams of gluten, of the cereals set out in article 516, Per kilogram of the product ready for delivery to the final consumer, according to the analytical techniques that, for this purpose, determine the institute of Public Health of Chile. The expression “gluten-free” will be labelled in the vicinity of the product name, with good enhancement, size and visibility characters.
The update will be enforced on October 24, 2018.
