On October 17, 2018, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Costa Rica has notified the World Trade Organization (WTO) with its regulation prohibiting the importation, distribution and marketing of toys containing toluene and xylene.

This Regulation prohibits the importation, distribution and marketing of toys containing toluene and xylene.

Specifically, the presence of toluene and xylene in the toy sphere, implies a potential risk to children’s health, which added to the frost, the water content and the plastic figure in it, makes it timely, prudent and necessary to prohibit the importation and marketing of said toy as a preventive measure for children in the country.
