The European Commission (EC) has published Commission Regulation (EU) 201879 amending Regulation (EU) No 10/2011 on Plastic Materials and Articles Intended to Come Into Contact With Food.

This Regulation contains certain amendments concerning Regulation (EU) No 10/2011 on plastic materials and articles intended to come into contact with food, particularly:

  • modifies and add entries on Table 1 of Regulation (EU) No 10/2011 which is the “Union list of authorized monomers, other starting substances, macromolecules obtained from microbial fermentation, additives and polymer production aids”.
  • adds entries in Table 3 of Regulation (EU) No 10/2011 (“Notes on verification of compliance”).

The regulation entered into force on February 8, 2018. Plastic materials and articles complying with Regulation (EU) No 10/2011 as applicable before the entry into force of this Regulation, may be placed on the market until 8 February 2019 and may remain on the market until exhaustion of stocks.
