EuropeThe European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) is consulting the public on the SEAC draft opinion on the proposed restriction of hazardous substances in tattoo inks and permanent make-up.
The opinion proposes that tattoo inks shall not be placed in market if they contain substances that are classified as:
- carcinogenic, mutagenic, or toxic to reproduction category 1A, 1B, or 2
- skin sensitizing, category 1, 1A or 1B
- skin irritant or corrosive, category 1A, 1B,1C, or 2
- eye damaging and irritant, category 1 or 2
The consultation for the proposed ended on February 11, 2019.
