On January 30, the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) has extended the public consultation for the draft amendments to the Customs Union Technical Regulation CU TR 007⁄2011 “On Safety of Products for Children and Adolescents.” The draft was initially up for public comments until March 1 but has since been extended to March 31, 2019.
The draft aims to clarify the technical regulation’s scope in relation to the sporting goods and equipment to include clothing and footwear intended for sports. It also increases the specified values of the mass of semi-pair shoes. Lastly, it provides the toxicological tests of children’s toothbrushes with alternative methods in vitro.
The draft regulation states that sporting goods and equipment shall have appropriate labelling, while toothbrushes, electric toothbrushes, gum massagers and similar oral care products shall comply with the requirements of biological safety according to Appendix 7 of the draft.
If approved, the regulation will come into force on March 1, 2020.
