Testing

GCC has released seven draft standards on jewelry. Four of which are test methods to determine platinum, silver and gold content in jewelries.

Public consultation will close on different dates for each draft. Below are the standards currently out for public consultation:

  • Jewellery — Fineness of Precious Metal Alloys — closes on April 3, 2019
  • Jewellery — Ring Sizes — Definition, Measurement and Designation — closes on March 29, 2019
  • Jewellery — Colours of Gold Alloys — Definition, Range of Colours and Designation — closes on March 29, 2019
  • Jewellery — Determination of Platinum in Platinum Jewellery Alloys — Gravimetric Method After Precipitation of Diammonium Hexachloroplatinate — closes on April 4, 2019
  • Jewellery — Determination of Platinum in Platinum Jewellery Alloys — ICP-OES Method Using Yttrium as Internal Standard Element — closes on April 3, 2019
  • Jewellery — Determination of Silver in Silver Jewellery Alloys — Volumetric (Potentiometric) Method Using Potassium Bromide — closes on April 4, 2019
  • Jewellery — Determination of Gold in Gold Jewellery Alloys — Cupellation Method (Fire Assay) — closes on April 3, 2019
