The Guyana National Bureau of Standards (GNBS) is consulting the public on the draft Industry Standard for the Specifications for Labelling and Testing of Toys and Playthings (ICS:97.200.50).

This draft standard specifies the labelling, quality and application for toys and playthings sold in Guyana, whether they are locally made or imported. It is being revised to include testing methodologies to include testing methodologies for children safety.

In addition, toys must be adequately labelled with the necessary caution statements and parents and guardians should take the responsibility to educate and guide children on how to use them to prevent accidents or injuries.

When adopted as a compulsory standard, this standard will be published in the Official Gazette.
