Hungary’s Government Legislation has issued Government Decree No 3742012 on the Limitation of the Use of Certain Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Equipment (125/2018. (VII.10.)).

This regulation amends and adds points to the RoHS Regulation (Government Decree 3742012 on the limitation of the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment. (XII.18.)).

This regulation amends and adopts Annex III to 2011/65/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council of 8 June 2011 on the restriction of the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment specifically:

  • the use of cadmium and lead for use in glass filters and glass used for the requirements of the reflection factor
  • exemption of lead in the bearing cups and linings of compressors with individual refrigerant compressors for the purpose of adaptation to technical progress.
  • exemption from lead in white vials used for optical applications for adaptation to technical progress
  • exemption for cadmium used in the display system for converting light-emitting diodes (LEDs)

The decree was enforced on July 27, 2018.
