The Ministry of Business, Innovation, and Employment of Ireland has enacted S.I No. 295 of 2018 European Union (Safety of Toys) (Amendment) Regulations 2018.

This Regulation amends European Communities (Safety of Toys) Regulations, 2011 (S.I. No. 14 of 2011) on lead, phenol, and bisphenol A and to apply the definitions set by the European Directive 2009/48/EC on the safety of toys.

The amendment also adopts the requirements of the following EU Directives. With their enforcement date:

  • Council Directive (EU) 2017738 on the safety of toys, as regards lead, (October 28, 2018)
  • Commission Directive (EU) 2017774 on the safety of toys, as regards phenol, (November 4, 2018)
  • Commission Directive (EU) 2017/ on the safety of toys, as regards bisphenol A, (November 26, 2018)

This Regulation was published on July 24th, 2018.
