On April 21, 2018, the Standards and Institution of Israel (SII) has amended three standards for the safety of toys.

The following revised standards are as follows:

  •  SI 562 Part 2:2018 Safety of Toys: Flammability
  • SI 562 Part 3:2018 Safety of Toys: Migration of Certain Chemical Elements
  • SI 562 Part 7:2015 Safety of Toys: Finger Paints — Requirements and Test Methods

These revised standards contain specific requirements for the different categories of flammable substances restricted from the use in toys, as well as testing methods for the migration of certain chemical elements from toy materials and from parts of it. They also specify requirements for the substances and materials used in finger paints which applies to finger paints only.

Both the old standard and the new revised standards will apply for a period of one year from entry to force until April 20, 2019. During this time, product may be tested according to the old or new revised standard.

Israel notified the World Trade Organization (WTO) regarding these updates on July 30, 2018.
