On August 14, 2018, Israel’s Ministry of Economy and Industry has notified the World Trade Organization (WTO) of its proposal to amend the mandatory standard SI 818 Part 2 for disposable infant’s diapers.

This proposed mandatory standard specifies the quality, safety, packaging, and labelling requirements for disposable infant diapers.

The major differences between the old version and this new revised draft standard are as follows:

  • Deletes quality requirements for diaper’s absorption
  • Adds and amends safety requirements
  • Amends the labelling requirements

Public consultation is open until October 13, 2018, while the enforcement date is yet to be determined.
