The Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS) is consulting with the public regarding “Paper and board intended to come into contact with foodstuffs — Determination of formaldehyde in an aqueous extract.” The consultation is open until March 3, 2019.
The draft standard specifies the determination of formaldehyde in aqueous extracts prepared from paper and board intended to come in contact with foodstuffs.
Furthermore, the draft sets out the different test methods and apparatus to use in determining formaldehyde content in paper and board products.
The draft standard states that formaldehyde must not exceed 1 ppm.
