The Ministry of Health of Malaysia amends Regulation 27A, Food Regulation 1985, intended to provide a maximum permitted proportion of N-nitrosamines and N-nitrosatable substances used in rubber teats and pacifiers for babies.

The amendment requires pacifiers, teats for feeding bottles and all similar articles to comply on the given minimum safety requirements, as follows:

  • N-nitrosamines (not more than 0.01 ppm)
  • N-nitrosatable (not more than 0.1 ppm)

This Regulation is currently open for public consultation until April 2nd, 2018.
