New Zealand’s Ministry of Environment has enacted Waste Minimization (Microbeads) Regulations 2017.

The regulation prohibits the sale and manufacture of wash-off products that contain plastic microbeads for the purposes of exfoliation, cleaning, abrasive cleaning or visual appearance of the product.

The regulation will be enforced on June 7, 2018.
