Ohio General Assembly had passed Senate Bill 332 Implement infant mortality recommendations on December 7, 2016. The bill aims to ban the sale of non-mesh crib bumper pads in the state. The bill also states that the House of Representatives must provide a three-year allowance for the sale of mesh crib bumper pads.

The ban could be extended permanently if the Consumer Product Safety Commission approves a rule regulating mesh bumper pads.

The newly-passed bill will take effect on April 6, 2017.
