Philippines Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has introduced Senate Bill No. 2085 Infant and Toddler Durable Product Safety Act on November 14, 2018.
This Act mandates the creation of a consumer product safety standards and review panel for durable infant or toddler products. Specifically, the requirements are:
- A consumer product safety standard for durable infant or toddler product must be created by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) for at least seven durable infant and toddler products every two calendar years beginning after the effective date of this Act. All durable infant and toddler products must have its own safety standard by December 31, 2019.
- Third party testing, compliance certification, and labeling requirements are provided in Sec. 7 of this Act.
This Act applies to durable infant and toddler products listed in Sec. 4.
This Act aims to promote and establish a product safety standard for each baby product in order to protect infants and toddlers from incidents that may cause injury or death.
