On November 6, 2018, the Ministry of Environment of Korea has proposed to designate administrative rules to enforce the Act on Consumer Chemical Products Subject to Safety Check, and Relevant Safety and Labeling Standards for household chemicals.

This draft specifies that household chemicals must comply with the standards for labeling in accordance with Article 10 (6) of Act on the Safety Management of Living Chemicals and Biocides. Additionally, household chemical products must conform with the safety standards for risk-concerned products subject to safety inspection as outlined under Article 9 of the Act on the Safety Management of Living Chemicals and Biocides.

Household chemicals products are designated as products that need risk prevention as announced by the Minister of Environment. The designation is based on the result of risk assessment conducted in accordance with the Act on Consumer Chemical Products and Biocides Safety.

Public consultation is open for this draft until November 20, 2018.
