On January 9, South Korea’s Ministry for Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) has published the revision to the Standard and Specification of Containers and Container Packages through Notification No. 2019–2.

The notification expands the ban on the use of bisphenol A (BPA), dibutyl phthalate (DBP) and benzyl butyl phthalate (BBP) from feeding bottle (including nipple) to include infant and young children devices, containers and their package.

The notification also specifies the establishment of new standards for moisture-proof container made from polyethylene and polypropylene, designed for dried food products.
