The Swedish and French Competent Authorities are set to prepare a restriction dossier under Annex XV in compliance with Article 69 of REACH (EC 19072006) on the use of skin sensitisers, skin irritants and corrosive substances in textile and leather articles, hides and furs.

The proposal intends to cover finished textile and leather articles, hides and furs intended to come into direct and prolonged contact with the skin.

The dossier focuses on skin sensitising, irritant and corrosive substances that may be present in clothing, footwear and other articles. The dossier also includes substances with a harmonized classification as Skin Sens. 1/1A/1B and/or Skin Irrit. 2 and/or Skin Corr. 1/1A/1B/1C under CLP, self-classified substances that meet the criteria for those classifications, or substances that are recommended to be classified as such by RAC.

Other substances that have been identified as of concern are also included in the scope.

The dossier also intends to gather information from relevant stakeholders regarding this. Deadline for providing input will be on August 3rd, 2018.
