Taiwan’s Food and Drug Administration (TFDA) is consulting with the public on the Draft Promotion of Cosmetics Labeling Advertisements concerning False Exaggeration or Medical Efficacy.

The draft states that there must be no hypocrisy or exaggeration in the labeling, promotion and advertising content of cosmetics. Additionally, cosmetics must not be labeled, declared or advertised for medical efficacy.

A table has been provided within the draft containing a list of words and phrases that are deemed to involve hypocrisy or exaggeration. On the other hand, the words listed in Annex III of the draft are not considered to be hypocritical or exaggerated.

The consultation ends on March 20, 2019.
