Chemical ManagementOn December 24th, 2019, Turkey has approved the amendment of the regulation for toy safety under Official Gazette No. 30988.
With the purpose of determining the principles and procedures for the safety and free movement of toys, the changes focus on the migration of heavy metals such as Chromium (VI) and lead.
The migration limits for the following are:

The migration limit of bisphenol A has also been lowered to 0.04 mg/L.
Addition of phenol requirements in toys intended for children under 36 months or other toys intended to be placed in the mouth:
- ≤ 5 mg/L from polymeric materials
- ≤ 10 mg/kg total content as a preservative
On the other hand, the term “aquatic toy” under Article 6 has been amended to “aqueous toy” which means a toy containing water, such as hobby paints, finger paints, glass paints, glues and soap bubbles.
The major changes related to the new chemical requirements will come into effect on December 24th, 2020.
