The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has released a direct final rule to revise the safety standard for infant bath tubs on October 23, 2018.

The direct final rule incorporates ASTM F2670-18 Standard Consumer Safety Specification for Infant Bath Tubs as a mandatory standard. ASTM F2670-18 expands the scope of the standard to include accessories used with an infant bath tub, includes new performance tests for accessories used with infant bath tubs, and makes corresponding changes to product labeling and instructions.

The rule will be effective starting on January 15, 2019 (if adverse comments are not received by November 23, 2018).
