The Ministry for Development of Economy, Trade and Agriculture of Ukraine has proposed to enact a new regulation on textile fiber names and appropriate labeling and marking of raw materials.

The proposed regulation is designed to remove technical barriers in mutual trade in light industry, particularly in textiles. Ukraine’s existing Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine of 14 January 2009 No. 13 “On Approval of the Technical Regulation on Textile Names and Textile Labeling” is set to lapse and will be replaced by a new regulation aligned with the existing Regulation (EU) № 10072011 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 September 2011 on textile fibre names and related labelling and marking of the fibre composition of textile products and repealing Council Directive 73/44/EEC and Directives 96/73/EC and 2008/121/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council.

Public consultation is currently underway for the draft proposal until February 2nd, 2020. Once approved, the regulation is expected to be implemented six months after the date of its publication in conjunction with the lapse of the existing regulation on textile names and textile labelling.
