UL’s Consumer and Retail Services locations in Italy and Hong Kong met The Microfibre Consortium (TMC) specifications and are now TMC selected laboratories for testing on the microfibre release from fabrics (service offered to TMC members only).
TMC is an organization which aims to facilitate the development of practical solutions for the textile industry to minimize microfibre release to the environment from textile manufacturing and product life cycle.
What is the problem with microfibre?
The concerns with microfibre include their potential impacts to human health, to marine life, and to the environment. Research does not yet exist to confirm these potential impacts, though a number of projects are currently in progress that will hopefully provide this crucial data.
TMC facilitates the development of practical solutions for the textile industry to minimize microfibre release to the environment from textile manufacturing and product life cycle.
With TMC recognition, we are better able to serve the softline industry and to protect the environment.
