UL is working with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) to deliver the official Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals (ZDHC) training modules under the SwitchMed Program. The program is an initiative funded by the European Union to promote a circular economy in the Mediterranean by changing the way goods and services are produced and consumed.
Under the SwitchMed Program, UNIDO works on improving environmental performance, profitability and value for textile industries in Morocco and Tunisia.
The online training modules are scheduled to take place between June 15 and September 18, 2020, and will include:
- Introduction to Chemical Management
- Top 10 Chemical Management Issues
- Wastewater Management
UL, UNIDO and ZDHC work together to deepen the industry’s knowledge about sustainable chemical management, environmental impact, mitigation measures and wastewater quality.
Industry manufacturers, international brands operating in Tunisia and Morocco, and relevant government representatives are expected to participate in the scheduled training modules.
UL is glad to work with UNIDO to increase awareness on sustainable chemical management in the region and looks forward to further supporting local textile companies in developing their businesses.
