U.S. Senator Jerry Moran (R-Kan.) – chairman of the Senate Commerce Subcommittee on Consumer Protection, Product Safety, Insurance, and Data Security – and U.S. Representatives Adam Kinzinger (R-Ill.) and Kurt Schrader (D-Ore.) has introduced Accurate Labels Act.

This Act proposes to amend Fair Packaging and Labeling Act by providing a clear, accurate, meaningful nutrition information on consumer products. This Act establishes science-based criteria for all additional state and local labeling requirements. This Act also allows state-mandated product information to be provided through smartphone-enabled “smart labels” and on websites, where consumers can find up-to-date, relevant ingredients and warnings.

The Act was introduced in the Congress on June 7, 2018.
